B.O.B. 2008

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! This year marked my first CNY in Beijing or in mainland China. I spent last year in Hong Kong, and I remember being unimpressed. Then I realized that Chinese New Year is like the Christmas of Chinese culture. More about family time then going out and getting crazy. That was my conclusion last year.

I had to revise that conclusion after this past Wednesday night, which was Chinese New Year's Eve. Below is a video clip from a house party on the outskirts of Beijing (past 6th ring road), where these Chinese MCs live.

Intense yo. I couldn't help but think of the footage I've seen of Baghdad on TV. Shocked and, indeed, awed.

In this next clip, sound is crucial. The explosion set off this mini-shockwave that you could feel in your stomach.

This last clip features this super deluxe boom pow suprise.

Imagine this starting after sunset and going till 4am. And then starting up again at 8am?! I mean I realized that Chinese people really like blowing ish up. Safety first?
