*NEW* Beijing

Harmonious 3-Wheel Chinese Checkers

----

In other Olympic preparations, Beijing--as mentioned before--has not lost sight of its goal to show the world that China is now Modernized a.k.a. Time-to-Go-Shopping!!!

When I left for the US in late June, this construction site near Sanlitun, the notorious bar area that keeps getting mentioned in several Western media articles, was still under wraps. Came back a few weeks ago and was like whoa what happened?!
That's a pretty big Adidas store. All four floors of it.

--
Puma was like, don't forget about me!

--
And if Puma and Adidas got up in there...you know you-know-who wouldn't be left out.

Not really noticeable in the pic above, but the Apple Store also opened.
--

Not exactly what I imagined a communist country to look like, before I moved here.
--

And while these pictures may seem boring--or at least not as interesting as the hutong photos--to me, these new shopping malls/centers of commerce are exciting to many Chinese people.

For example, I went to IKEA in Beijing a couple weekends ago to get some sundries. Talk about a madhouse.

--

A lot of people just go to hang out and "aspire." And take pictures of each other.

Hello World, welcome to *NEW* Beijing!!!
